Wedding Weekend

We are at a great family weekend in Duck, NC this weekend. My sister in law is getting married this afternoon. It is always fun to see how much my kids love the beach.

This Rhetoric is Dangerous
Posted by Reeves in Technology on October 7th, 2008
The recent McCain-Palin rhetoric on Obama is nothing short of dangerous and irresponsible. As a major candidate in such incredibly scary time economically, McCain has to realize the potential that he may push an already unstable supporter over the edge.
Racial tensions still exist and I am terrified about what could happen to Obama. Real leadership would never have let it come to this – Country First, my ass.
Damn Good Writing

Whether you endorse this position or not (and for full disclosure I do), this is damn good writing. Regardless of your perspective, when an argument can be conveyed this eloquently, I will always listen.
From Andrew Sullivan, theatlantic.com:
“Agreed. But sometimes contempt is merited. And it is silly not to say it if one believes it. I do believe that the current GOP is contemptible in all its permutations – from the base to the intelligentsia. I can still call myself a conservative; I can still see Obama’s flaws and where I disagree with him. But my political judgment, honestly held, proudly expressed, is that destroying this Republican party is essential if this country and the world are going to recover from our current morass.”
Bad Idea

If you are ever pressure washing your driveway with a very powerful machine, I do not recommend the “that looks dirty too, I think I’ll pick it up and clean it” approach. I’m not sure the skin that was ripped off of my hand will ever come back.
(It really is only about an inch circle, lest you think I am deformed in some way.)

Controlling my Macbook Pro from my iPhone right now. I am speechless. The screen even looks better on the iPhone.
Check it out.
iPhone Love
Posted by Reeves in Technology on July 29th, 2008
I recently moved over from RIM and Verizon to iPhone and AT&T. The coverage comparison is a definite loss but I don’t think the device comparison is as clear. For pure push email and typing, the Blackberry services and tactile keyboard are fastest. The problem with that is partially my getting used to the iPhone after years on RIM. But the larger issue is that they are two totally different devices. The Blackberry is a hardcore work device for messaging and voice. The iPhone is much more than that. The app store and Safari are the foundation for a true mobile computing device. Once you have this type of power, I can’t ever see going back.
As an example, this post was made and managed from mobile Wordpress.
Family Vacation 2008
We finally managed to plan and execute the traditional family beach vacation that I grew up with.
Big house, two families with kids, lots of seafood cooked and beer consumed. We had a great time and once the girls got used to the beach, they really had a great time.
The biggest lesson – that has already been confirmed by my father – is that a “family vacation” at my kids’ age does not equal a vacation for the parents. New pictures are posted on the Photographs page of my beautiful girls.
